Teenager riding pillion on father's scooter killed in mishap

A teenager was killed today when a truck hit the two-wheeler he was riding pillion in north Delhi's Bada Hindu Rao area, police said today.

Sahil Gulati (16) was sitting behind his father Rajkumar when their scooter was hit by a truck from behind near Azad Market Chowk, they said.

Sahil fell down from the two-wheeler and suffered severe head injuries. His father, however, escaped with minor injuries, police said.

The boy was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Sahil and his father were wearing helmets but due to the impact of the accident, Sahil's helmet was broken.

The accused driver fled after leaving the truck behind.

Police are trying to ascertain the ownership of the truck.
