A 16-year-old boy on Saturday confessed to have killed his mother and sister in their apartment in Gaur City-2, Greater Noida. According to the police, the boy, who was the prime suspect in the case, was apprehended by Gautam Budh Nagar police and a police team from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, late on Friday night.

The 42-year-old victim, Anjali, and her 11-year-old daughter Kanika were found murdered in their house on Tuesday night. The bodies were discovered in the bedroom. Anjali's husband was out of station for work at the time. The incident came to light when he asked his relatives to check on his family as his wife was not answering his calls.

The boy was produced before the juvenile court and then sent to the correction home. "The boy, who had been on the run after the murder, had called his father from an unknown number on Friday afternoon.

His father immediately informed the police," said Luv Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar.

Police said the boy kept crying on the phone. His father passed on the number to the police, following which the minor's location was traced to Mughal Sarai. A team was sent from Greater Noida by air. By then, the Varanasi police had spotted him near the Dashashvamedh Ghat and informed the Noida police. The boy was immediately nabbed.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was often beaten up by his mother and he felt that his parents loved his sister more than him.

"The boy has confessed to the crime. He said his mother scolded him on December 4 afternoon, for studying on the sofa. When he refused to move, she beat him up. In September, his father had confiscated his cell phone for not doing well academically. Enraged, he murdered his mother and sister while they were sleeping," Kumar said.

The boy further stated that he used his bat to attack his mother. According to the CCTV footage accessed by investigators, Anjali and her children were last seen entering the society around 8 pm that night. Then the accused boy was seen leaving the building around 11.30 pm, with a phone and a bag.

"He attacked his mother with a bat while she was sleeping and used a pair of scissors to inflict fatal wounds. On sensing that his sister has woken up, he killed her as well.

He used the bat to attack then stabbed both of them with the scissor and also used pizza cutter to kill them," said Kumar.

Post-mortem examination of the bodies revealed that Anjali had seven injury marks on her head, while Kanika had five. Police said that after murdering the duo, the boy booked a cab and exited the building from the basement.

He then went to Old Delhi, from where he took a train to Jammu. But he got down in Ludhiana and travelled to Chandigarh by train, then Shimla, before returning to Chandigarh. He finally took a train to Ranchi and got down at Varanasi.

"He was lost. In the end, he called up his father. We could not recover the bag in which He was carrying money and the phone which he had taken along with him, as he had lost the bag on the way," Kumar added.
