A delegation of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders from Telangana today met Union Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister M Venkaiah Naidu regarding no progress being made in affordable housing projects in the state.

Their representation stated that the Centre has already sanctioned houses to Telangana, but on ground, the work has not yet commenced, a release said.

Naidu said the prerogative of land procurement lies with the state government once the houses are sanctioned by the Centre.

He, however, assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with the state government.

As many as 80,000 houses have already been sanctioned to Telangana.

Naidu was also appraised that nearly 23,000 houses, constructed previously under JNNURM & WAMBAY schemes, have not been allotted or given possession to any beneficiaries as yet.

The Minister said he will depute one officer from his Ministry to Telangana to look into the matter.
