There are old stalwarts of the party like O Panneerselvam, Gokula Indra and Ponnaiyan along with some new faces who will run on the AIADMK ticket this year.
On Monday, AIADMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa named candidates for 227 seats of the total 234 while leaving only seven seats for smaller allies. The list includes old stalwarts of the party like O Panneerselvam, Gokula Indra and Ponnaiyan as well as new faces who will run on the AIADMK ticket this year. The CM is contesting the polls from RK Nagar where she won successfully last time.
Sitting Ministers SP Velumani, Sellur K Raju, RB Udayakumar, and KT Rajendrabalaji, Assembly Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman and former DGP of Tamil Nadu R Natraj also figure in the list.
K Pandiarajan, a rebel DMDK MLA who joined the AIADMK, was also given a seat to contest along with Panruti Ramachandran. However, out of the nine MLAs who came to the AIADMK from the DMDK only two were given seats to contest. PT Elangovan, a former PMK MP, who fell out with party founder S Ramadoss, was allotted a seat in the Dharmapuri constituency.
