Three DMK MLAs who were on their way to attend an event in Pudukottai in which Chief Minister K Palaniswami participated, were detained on Friday.

Tirumeyyam MLA Raghupathy, along with Pudukottai MLA Periannan Arasu and Alangudi legislator Meyyanathan were detained when they were set to leave their party office for the function.

Raghypathy said their names had been mentioned in the government invitation, adding that district administration officials had also had invited them to participate in it.

It was against this background that they been 'strangely' detained without any reason being assigned, Raghupathy claimed.
