In an unusual turn of events, a SpiceJet flight SG172 from Goa-Delhi took off allegedly without informing some of the passengers and left them stranded with their luggage at the Goa airport. The incident happened with around 14 people who came to Goa from Chennai to take their connecting flight to Delhi.

The departure time of the flight to Delhi was 2.35 pm while 14 passengers from Chennai were supposed to reach Goa by 1.15 pm via flight SG3105. According to Spice Jet officials, the Chennai-Goa flight got delayed during departure itself, and the passengers were informed that they won't be able to take flight SG172, but would be provided with a different flight.

Passengers complained that they not just missed the SG3105 flight because of the airline, but were also not informed about an alternate flight. According to sources at the Goa airport, a heated argument started between the passengers and the SpiceJet staff when the 14 passengers landed at Goa airport around 3 pm — two hours after their scheduled arrival.

Irked with repeated delays, irate passengers of the SG3105 raised a hue and cry at Goa airport demanding that the private airline refund their money after they missed their connecting flight.

Later, staff said that the next flight was scheduled to depart at 8 pm. Meanwhile, a passenger called the Goa airport police to intervene, but the staff arranged tickets from a different airline for the stranded passengers.

The airlines, however, claim they were not at fault and that the passengers had been informed about the delay at Chennai airport .
