There has been a lot of talk about Rahul Gandhi taking over the party as its President.

Ahead of the Congress party meeting on Tuesday, Sonia Gandhi spoke about the speculations regarding elevation of Rahul Gandhi as the party's president.
"People will come to know of the matter when it happens," she said, thereby continuing the suspense around the matter.

Gandhi had called a dinner-meeting of MPs and office bearers on Tuesday evening at the Parliament, reports Asian Age. The event is an informal gathering just ahead of the closing of Budget Session. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and MP Shashi Tharoor, among others, were present at the dinner.
Congress traditionally holds dinner for MPs during the Parliament session twice a year.

Following the party's debacle in UP and Uttaralkhand polls, there has been pressure to hold those responsible for the Congress' poor show. There have been rumours that a rejig in the party is likely to happen after the Parliament Session.
