Commuters of Metro Railway here had a harrowing time after services were suspended from Chandni Chowk to Tollygunge stations, due to disruption in power supply.

At around 8:46 PM, smoke was seen coming out of a electric sub-station near Rabindra Sadan metro station, following which power supply to metro stations from Chandni Chowk to Tollygunge was switched off.

"At around 9 PM we decided to stop Metro services from Chandni Chowk to Tollygunge. Up and Down services from Dum Dum to Central stations and Tollygunge to Kavi Subhas stations were kept normal," an official of the Metro railway said.

The engineers of Metro railway are at work to restore normal services, the official said.
