Just days after Shiv Sena MPs met Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan requesting that the blanket ban by airline companies against Osmanabad MP Ravindra Gaikwad (in pic) be revoked, they met Mahajan again on Thursday and claimed that Gaikwad, too, was abused and hit by Air India staffers. They appealed to the Speaker that the airline staffers should also face action for abusing a Member of Parliament. Agitated Sena MPs told the Speaker that Gaikwad, who has been grounded for allegedly assaulting a senior employee of Air India, was the victim of a media trial.

Senior Sena MPs Anandrao Adsul, Chandrakant Khaire, Gajanan Kirtikar, Vinayak Raut and Arvind Sawant were present in the meeting, along with Shrirang Barne, Shivaji Patil, Prataprao Jadhav, Bhawana Gawli, Hemant Godse and Rajya Sabha member Anil Desai. Gaikwad stayed away from the meeting and even the Parliament after he reached Delhi from Osmanabad by road.

“Only one side of the story is coming out. We showed a video to Madam Speaker where some of the staffers are clearly heard abusing our colleague. We requested once again that the ban imposed on him be revoked so that he can perform his duties properly,” said Arvind Sawant, Member of Parliament, Mumbai South.
