The Sangh Parivar is all set to handhold aspiring netas from across the country. An organisation associated with the Sangh, which had so far been imparting training to new legislators of the BJP, will now produce future leaders at its institute.

Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini's postgraduate course in 'Leadership Politics and Governance' will be conducted at its Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership (IIDL) in Thane, Maharashtra from August this year. The nine-month-long course is a residential programme and the institute will be charging a fee of Rs 2.5 lakh.

The programme was launched formally on Wednesday by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe.

"Politics is an extremely underrated subject, which should not be the case. People should realise that whatever happens in their life is because of politicians/government. So the best among the country's people should join politics. I am happy that IIDL has started a course for producing future political leaders. It is a great step," said Javadekar.

A first of its kind course that aims to train aspiring politicians, it also promise 'students' internships in areas of their interest. However, it does not promise them a job or association with any party.

Students at the academy will be taught 33 modules, broadly divided into four themes — management, Governance, leadership and politics. Guest lecturers from various fields and politicians — both active and retired — will be invited for on campus interactions.

"IIDL is the only institute in South Asia that trains politicians. So far we had been taking training sessions for MPs and MLAs teaching them how to ask correct questions in parliament, management of office and other things. But with this course we have ventured to train young talented people who want to be a part of politics," said Ravindra Sathe, executive director Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini.

Most of the BJP leaders have received some or the other kind of training at this institute. The chairperson for Prabodhini is Anirudh Deshpande who is the Sampark Pramukh of RSS.
