Assam Congress president Ripun Bora has alleged that cadres of the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad are carrying out arms training in their facilities in the districts of Hojai and Nalbari as part of organisational work.

In a press conference at the capital, Bora said that he has written a letter to the home minister on July 26, where along with video footage of the training, he has demanded that a high level inquiry, and urged him to take proper action against the organisations "for indulging in such unlawful activity which is very dangerous for the life and security of the people".

At the conference, Bora showed the two videos; he said that one was a video of volunteers of the Bajrang Dal at the Narbali office, while the other was of women volunteers Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Durga Vahini at the organisation's Hojai office.

In his letter to home minister Rajnath Singh, Bora said that the training was aimed at "inciting and encouraging extremist activity." "More over the Arms training is imparted with certain motive of attacking and killing their opposite Party. This will Jeopardise the peace, tranquility of the Society (sic)," the letter read. Bora added that despite the footage making it to the electronic media in the local channels, the Assam police has not taken any action yet.

"It is a now a big question to all of us -- what is the motive of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the RSS who claim that they are social organisations. Why do they need to train their cadre in arms for social work," Bora told dna. "It is surprising that the Assam Police and the intelligence department did not get any advance information, neither has the state government constituted an inquiry. It is also no secret that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has made several visits to these camps."
