'Repair road connecting Mumbai to Konkan region by August 5'

Maharashtra minister Chandrakant Patil today instructed the officials to repair the potholes on the road connecting Mumbai to Konkan region of the state by August 5.

Patil, who is PWD and Revenue Minister, chaired a meeting of PWD officers from Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts to review the current status of the road.

Several ministers and MLAs from Konkan (coastal) region were present for the meeting.

Patil said, "The stretch of road starting from Panvel city in Raigad district till Sindhudurg experiences traffic movement. The heavy rainfall results in potholes which slows down the vehicular traffic.

"The officials should take up repair works on war-footing and complete it by August 5." He added, "The officials should also keep a team of workers to repair the roads at every 50 km distance as a precautionary measure. If a contractor fails to repair the potholes, then they will face action."

The four lane conversion of the Mumbai Goa national highway is stuck due to land acquisition issues.

"I am hopeful that the work will be completed in next two years," Patil added.
