The executive council of Ravenshaw University today upheld the decision of the Vice Chancellor in the matter of punishment given to six students earlier this month for alleged involvement in a group clash.
Acting tough on at least 16 students, VC Prakash Chandra Sarangi on March 3 had suspended six of them from the University for different periods.
While three students were suspended for two semesters, three others were suspended for four semesters and the remaining were let up with warning.
Soon after the punishment was announced, some students misbehaved with the VC forcing him to shot off his resignation letter to the Chancellor and state Governor S C Jamir.
Sarangi however, resumed duties when the Chancellor refused to accept his resignation.
