After a hiatus of 17 months, the popular 'Ram Leela' is back on stage as its comeback show "Prithvi Pukar Narad Moh" was staged at the Ayodhya Research Centre here today.

The daily shows of the epic Ram Leela in Ayodhya was started by former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav on May 20, 2004.

The shows were stopped abruptly during the regime of his son and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on November 24, 2015 after the state's Culture department refused to grant aid for the same.

After the intervention of present Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the department has ordered to restart the shows after sanctioning a handsome budget for the dramatic enactment of the life and time of Lord Rama.

"Today we started the first show of Ram Leela, and now we hope that the shows will run continuously without any hurdles.

We have received all official orders from the Culture department," Ram Teerath, assistant manager of Ayodhya Research Centre, told
