Rajasthan: Government to provide five litres of desi ghee to pregnant women in two installments

Pregnant women would be provided with three litre of ghee after the first ANC (test), while the remaining two litre would be given at the time of discharge after delivery.

The five litres of desi ghee being provided to BPL women after first institutional delivery in Rajasthan will now be provided in two parts.

The first three litres of ghee will be given to the pregnant woman after the first ANC (test) and the remaining two litres at the time of discharge after delivery. The decision was taken on Tuesday in a cabinet meeting in Jaipur chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore said the decision to provide three litres of desi ghee at the time of ANC will help in improving maternal nutrition in the pregnancy and lactation period of BPL women. The pregnant BPL women will get coupons of three litres of ghee after check up between the fourth to sixth months of pregnancy.

In the beginning, the scheme will be run as a pilot project in Tonk, Dholpur, Churu, Jaisalmer, Jhunjhnu, Baran and Banswara districts. 

He also informed that to promote the alternative energy, the state cabinet has decided to amend the Biomass Energy Policy 2010.

The cabinet also cleared the proposal to double the special pay of STF officers and jawans.
