Survivors of the bus that met with an accident on Saturday in Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan believe they were lucky enough to have escaped the clutches of death.
The state government said that an action would be taken against the bus owner and also announced compensation to the families of the deceased and injured.
Kamlesh Devi, a victim of the bus accident, was travelling from Uttar Pradesh to Ramdeviji Temple with her daughter, mother-in-law and pregnant sister-in-law and her two kids. Lying on the hospital bed she said, " “I am married for six years. I have one daughter. But my family wants a son. So, I was coming to the temple to seek a baba’s (traditional healer) blessing so I give birth to a boy.” She also adds that three of her family members were with her but is clueless of the rest.
Anurag Prajapat, 13, was travelling with his father vinod to Ramdevji temple to seek blessings. “I am unable to straighten my hands and we wanted to seek blessings at the temple so I get cured,” he said. His father was admitted to a ICU of a hospital.
Anurag and his father were coming from Madhya Pradesh to visit the temple. He said that the bus was being driven rashly by a teenager.
33 people were killed on Saturday when a private bus fell into Banas river from a nearly 100-foot high bridge in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district, police said. The bus was ferrying passengers from Lal Soth to Sawai Madhopur. According to media reports, the bus was being driven by a 16-year-old conductor who was allegedly speeding and lost control over the vehicle.
Injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals. District officials are supervising the rescue operations.

"There were around 50 passengers in the bus. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals," a senior police officer said.
The bus had left Sawai Madhopur at 5 am. After breaking the railing of the bridge the bus fell into the river at around 6 am.
Passengers were from other states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Assam. Several of them were going to offer prayers at a temple in Malarna Chour in the district, Police said.
