Pune: Drunk father murders minor daughter after her constant crying for mother annoys him

A man murdered his five-year-old daughter by slitting her throat in Indaur thesil area of Pune on Wednesday. According to the police, the man, who was in an inebriated state, was annoyed with his daughter after she repeatedly asked him to take her to her mother. In a fit of rage, he slit her throat with a sharp weapon.

Indapur police arrested the man, identified as Charudatta Shinde after a neighbour, who was witness to the incident, complained to the police. The girl has been identified as Samiksha.

Police said that Charudatta works as a labourer while his wife works in the farm in Nimgaon Ketaki village. "He is an alcoholic due to which the couple would always quarrel," sub inspector Amol Nanavare of Indapur police station who is investigating the case told DNA.

On the day of the incident, Charudatta's wife had gone to the farm while he was at home with Samiksha. He then called his wife up asking for money for liquor, which she refused to do.

Charudatta then got restless and this restlessness turned to anger after the victim started crying for her mother. “He dragged her 150 metres away from the house and slit her throat with a sharp weapon,” Nanavare added.

 While Charudatta was dragging his daughter into the nearby farm, she was crying loudly. "Hearing her loud cries, their neighbour rushed to check on her, but witnesses the murder," Nanavare added.

The woman raised the alarm following which other villagers rushed to spot and nabbed Charudatta and handed him to the police. "We have recovered a cutter from the crime scene," the police officer said.
