Three jail inmates, facing trial under Gangster and NDPS Acts, managed to make an escape from Mathura jail in wee hours of Monday . The State government has suspended Head Warden and three other jail staffers following the jail-break.
Taking advantage of the dense fog and biting cold, Kalua alias Shera of Vrindavan, Sanjay of Agra and Rahul from Jalesar scaled the jail wall and escaped. The incident took place around 2.30 am on Monday. They were lodged in the jail from 2015 and were facing trial under Gangster and NDPS Acts. One of their accomplices, however, failed to escape.
The District Magistrate S.R. Mishra told media that the three managed to climb a tin-shade and then scaled the jail wall on the side of the old residence of the jailor which is an abandoned area. “We have charged Head Warden and three other wardens of the jail for dereliction of duties. An inquiry has been ordered and police is on the lookout for the escaped undertrials,” said DM.
