Powai: Four held for killing a man with beer bottle on Holi

The Powai Police Station on Monday arrested four persons for allegedly killing a 20-year-old man with a broken beer bottle for asking their sister for her mobile number.

The accused have been identified as Nandu Karade (22), Sanjay Karade (20), Prashant Harichand Kopi (18), and Geeta Khurade (40).

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Sachin Hemade (20), along with his brother Rupesh (22) had gone to play Holi on Monday near the IIT campus in Powai. 

During the celebrations, Rupesh asked the girl who was also playing Holi, for her mobile number. After refusing, she told her brothers about the incident. 

What started with a heated argument between the two parties led to a fight, during which the accused overpowered the duo and hit the now deceased youth with a beer bottle on the head, killing him. 

Sachin was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

"We have arrested the accused and are probing the matter. The heated argument turned violent causing the death of Sachin. We have registered a case against four persons," said Anagha Satavase, Investigating Officer at the Powai Police Station.

A charge of murder has been registered against the accused in the Powai Police Station.
