A distressed 27-year-old woman approached the Supreme Court seeking ban on pornographic sites in India citing reason that online porn has completely 'ruined' her marriage.
The Mumbai-based woman claimed that her husband's addiction to online pornography, who spends most of his time browsing porn sites, has destroyed her marriage and wants ban on such sites, reported news agency IANS.
She claimed that the husband, who passed most of his time living in the fantasy world, became so 'perverted' that he ignored her material and physical needs and also missed to carry out his daily activities. The 35-year-old husband seemed to indulge so much in those porn sites that he started forcing his wife to have 'unnatural oral sex' against her wishes.
"My husband has been an addict of porn and spends a lot of his precious time watching porn. He is suffering from lack of virility and vitality and thus is unable to initiate sexual intercourse. However, my husband has at times forced me to have unnatural oral sex with him against my wishes. Thus, he is exhibiting abnormal behaviour ruining my married life," the wife said in her petition.
The woman also went on to say that the easy availability of porn in India will give rise to sex crimes and matrimonial disputes in the country,
"The easy availability of porn in this country is a serious impediment in the progress of this nation as a whole new generation is adversely affected leading to perversion of youth, loss of moral and spiritual values which if not checked can lead to total lack of productivity, rise in sex crimes, matrimonial disputes and a state of doom," she added.
The woman moved the top court through advocate Kamlesh Vaswani, who back in 2013 filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking a complete ban on all porn websites, arguing that internet pornography led to an increase in sex crimes.
Porn addiction becomes a problem between couples when an individual cannot be aroused by their partner or without the assistance of pornographic content.
For a country in which sex is ironically one of the most taboo subjects, the land of Kamasutra consistently finds itself in the list of top countries that visit Pornhub, one of the largest pornography websites on the internet. In 2015 and 2016, India stood third and fourth respectively, in terms of traffic to the website.
