Political parties in Karnataka, including the ruling Congress were least concerned about the drought situation 134 taluks in the state including some regions of Dakshina Kannada district, senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary said today.

Addressing reporters here, he said acute shortage of water was being reported from several places across the state, but no party was taking any concrete measure to tackle the situation.

He said it was doubtful whether even the meeting of KPCC co-ordination committee held at Bengaluru yesterday took up the issue.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not even mention anything about drought.

The government was not even showing the concern shared by former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, who had taken up the issue seriously, he said.

On several leaders demanding the removal of 'tainted' ministers in the state cabinet, he said the Chief Minister would not dare to remove them because he wanted to cling to his seat.

About Food Minister U T Khader 'chappal' comment against those protested against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's visit to the city, he said Khader, being a minister, should never have compared people to footwear.
