Police arrests a man for involvement in arms racket

Kolkata Police has arrested one person for his alleged involvement in an arms racket and seized a firearm from his possession during a raid in the eastern part of the city.

According to a senior police officer, illegal firearms dealer Dipak Das alias Netu (36) was arrested late last night from Pottery Road in Entally area under Taltala Police Station limits.

One improvised single-shot firearm along with one cartridge were seized from him, he said.

"We are suspecting that the accused had brought them for the purpose of selling to unknown miscreants who fled," he said.

Das was produced before a city court which remanded him to police custody till June 20, the officer added.
