PMC’s CSO booked in bribery case

The duo have been identified as CSO Santosh Sambhajirao Pawar, 44, resident of Bibvewadi in Pune and 50-year-old Kishore Dattatray Girme.

Pune Unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday booked two persons, including Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Municipal Corporation of Pune for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from an owner of a security agency. The duo have been identified as CSO Santosh Sambhajirao Pawar, 44, resident of Bibvewadi in Pune and 50-year-old Kishore Dattatray Girme. 

According to the ACB officials, complainant runs a security agency. He had received a tender of providing security from the Municipal Corporation of Pune. The said tender had lapsed and in order to provide an extension till the new tender process is implemented, the accused persons had demanded a bribe. 

“A bribe of Rs 10 lakh was demanded from the complainant, but since he did not want to pay the bribe, he approached us,” said an ACB official. He added, after verifying the claims made by the complainant, a trap was laid near Hotel Olympia Cafe opposite the municipal corporation’s office on Saturday. 

“Girme was caught when he arrived at the spot around 6.15 pm to accept the first instalment of the bribe money of Rs 4 lakh,” said the official.

After the Anti-Corruption Bureau verified the claims made by the complainant, a trap was laid and Kishore Dattatray Girme was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh
