On the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21 Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make a big announcement. It is likely that yoga might be induced in primary education to spread awareness and also as it indicates Indian culture, say sources. It may be noted here that other countries have already adopted yoga and introduced it in their primary education.

With PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath joining the Yoga enthusiasts, on one stage on Wednesday, a strong crowd of 51,000 participants is expected in Lucknow. The 80-minute event is scheduled to begin at around 6.30 am, for which the state government has sent invites to leaders of various political parties, including former chief ministers.

Yoga enthusiasts, several dignitaries, politicians and bureaucrats will gather at Lucknow’s Ramabhai Ambedkar Sabha Sthal, where Yoga rehearsals have been going on for over a month.

“The participants will be allowed to enter the venue from 2.00 am to 5.30 am. Giant LED screens will be installed at the venue for them to have a close look at the yogic postures,” Additional District Magistrate (Lucknow East) Virendra Pandey said.

“Besides, we will install LED screens at 11 parks in Lucknow for those unable to enter the venue,” he said. A tight security cordon has been thrown around the sprawling venue with commandos and paramilitary personnel keeping a close watch from vantage points, police said. Officials said over 400 CCTV cameras would be installed for the event.

Culture and tourism ministry and its offices across the country has been working hard to promote this day and making it a huge success.

The ministry had also requested UNESCO, last year, to register yoga as world heritage and it’s home as India and it is being seen as a big achievement.
