Plea challenging Adityanath govt's order to madrassas to play national anthem dismissed by Allahabad HC

On Wednesday, the Allahabad High Court rejected a plea seeking relief for madrassas in UP from singing the national anthem.  The plea had challenged the Adityanath govt’s order directing madrassas to play the national anthem.

The Aditynath government had directed all madrassas across the state to hoist the flag, recite the national anthem, and also asked them to show video proof.  A circular in this regard was issued by Rahul Gupta, Registrar, UP Madrasa Shiksha Parishad to 8,000 madrassas recognised by the Paishad and 560 others that are government-aided.

Defying Yogi Adityanath government's order, some madrassas in Uttar Pradesh refused to sing national anthem and videograph the Independence Day celebrations.

The Uttar Pradesh government had directed all madrassas (Islamic schools) to hold celebrations on Independence Day and videograph the event, and even warned of action against madrassas which do not follow the order.

The directive was also questioned by All India Muslim Personal Law Board member Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahli.
