Blistering heatwave conditions continued to prevail across Haryana and Punjab today.

Narnaul in Haryana was the hottest place in the region with a maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius with Hisar following closely at 44.3 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said here.

Karnal sizzled at 42.5 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal, while Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.

In Punjab, Patiala recorded a high of 42.4 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal, while Amritsar's maximum settled at 41.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

Ludhiana's maximum temperature was 41.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, while Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, registered a high of 41.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
