Pakistan diplomats on wanted list, NIA to approach Interpol against them

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has decided to approached Interpol to issue Red Corner Notice (RCN) against Pakistan diplomat Amir Zubair Siddique, who is declared absconder in terror and espionage cases in India. The agency has put Siddique's name in wanted list. The agency has also decided to approached Interpol against another Pakistan diplomat named as Shah for waging war against India. The duo were posted in Sri Lanka when they conspired to carry out terror attacks at US Consulate in Chennai and Israel Embassy at Bengaluru.

The Pakistan diplomats are wanted in two cases in India. Siddique conspired to carry out explode US Consulate in Chennai and Israel Embassy at Bengaluru when he was visa counsellor at the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. The NIA stated that in 2014, a Sri Lankan national Sakir Hussain conspired with Siddique, working in Pakistan High Commission at Colombo and his higher officer known as Boss alias Shah to cause explosions at the office of US Consulate in Chennai and Israel Embassy at Bengaluru for their allegedly anti-Muslim stance. In order to carry out their plan the officials sent Fake Indian Currency Notes amounting to five lakh rupees through some persons to Tamil Nadu. NIA had also chargesheeted Siddiqui and interestingly even before the NIA's request under Mutual Assistance Legal Treaty (MLAT) reached Colombo, he was quietly withdrawn . The court has declared him absconder. They agency had arrested Hussain for allegedly carrying out reconnaissance of the US Consulate and Israeli Embassy.

In the second case registered in 2013, it was alleged that Siddique, who was serving as Counsellor (Visa) in Pakistan High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka, entered into conspiracy to transmit vital and incriminating information relating to security aspects of vital installations through e-mail and in person to the intelligence officers serving in Pakistan Embassy in Sri Lanka.

‘CONSPIRACY’

  • NIA said in 2014, Sri Lankan national Sakir Hussain conspired with Siddique, working in Pak High Commission at Colombo and his higher officer known as Boss to cause explosions at the office of US Consulate in Chennai and Israel Embassy at Bengaluru for their anti-Muslim stance.
