Amid rising tension along the border in the wake of the recent ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces arrested a Pakistan-trained Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) terrorist at the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj.
He has been identified as Nasir Ahmed Wani, 34, a resident of Doligaam village in J&K. Aditya Mishra, ADG (Law and Order), said that Wani joined HuM in 2003. After being trained in PoK, he moved to Pakistan and settled there, added Mishra.
Wani’s father, Ghulam Qadi Wani, resides in Jammu. On learning that his father was terminally ill, Vani attempted to reach Jammu through the Nepal border when he was caught by the Sashtra Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) from Sonauli border. “Wani took a flight to Sharjah from Faislabad and then to Kathmandu, and was trying to sneak into UP through the Nepal border to reach Jammu when SSB jawans nabbed him,” said Mishra.
