The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Monday released first list with 18 candidates who will be contesting for civic elections. Among those was of Umar Saad who is brother-in-law of cricketer Yusuf Pathan. "He is member of our party and has been working for the part for a long time," said Waris Pathan, the party's MLA. Pathan will be contesting from ward number 208 which is in Byculla and falls under Waris's constitutency.

"The ticket was given only becuase he is a worker of the party and not because he is a relative," said Luqman Nadvi, member of the party. The party also got a shot in the arm when long time Congress corporator, Waqarunnisa Ansari too declared that she will be joining the AIMIM. "She declared that today and even Nizamuddin Rayeen is in talks with us to get a ticket," said Pathan.

From ward number 211 which will be a closely watched contest, Adil Qureshi has been given the ticket from MIM. He is son of Mubin Qureshi, also party member. "Everyone has been given ticket only because he is a worker. There has been selection and screening before this was done," said Pathan. Qureshi will be contesting against Samajwadi Party leader in the BMC, Raees Shaikh.

The list released covers areas of Sion and Dharavi, where the party has given a ticket to two women who are not from the community. "We have given tickets to Hindu sisters too. This time we have given tickets to all those people who will be contesting elections for the first time and are lawyers or doctors," said Pathan. Pathan said that the next list will be out in two to three days.
