Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has said "order and orderliness form strong foundation of good administration".

The former IPS officer who was on a visit to the municipal market in the neighbouring Ariyankuppam village today observed through her twitter handle that "order and orderliness form strong foundation of good administration and they cannot come without cleanliness and honest tax collection".

She was accompanied by officials of her office Raj Nivas, Commissioner of the Ariyankuppam commune Panchayat and also office bearers of the Puducherry Traders Federation during her visit to the market today.

Addressing the traders the Lt Governor urged them to ensure that the premises and also the environment were kept clean without dumping or littering the solid waste and garbage haphazardly.

She also stressed the need for segregating the garbage at source for easy disposal.

Traders should particularly refrain from dumping the garbage into the side drains as clogging of the drainage would give rise to several health issues.

Bedi who was on her week end visit to the suburban and rural areas also called upon the traders to keep their responsibility in mind.

The government would adopt a scheme to present awards to the best maintained market in the Union Territory and the markets would be graded under safety, cleanliness and tax compliance.

The reward in kind would be presented to the traders association on the occasion of celebration of Republic Day and Independence day every year.
