The recovery of crop loans granted to farmers during Kharif season remained at a low of 14.50 per cent this time as the government did not force them for repayment, Rajasthan Cooperative Minister Ajay Singh said.

Replying to a question by Congress MLA Sukhram Bishnoi during the Question Hour, Singh informed the House that the recovery of Kharif crop loans was only 14.50 per cent against Rs 10,500 crore because the government did not bound them.

Bishnoi alleged that the distribution of crop loans was quite low after the decision of demonetisation, which affected the farmers.

The minister said cooperative loans worth Rs 1,992 crore for Rabi crops have been distributed to the farmers from September 1, 2016 to February 24 this year.

Replying to a question related with his department, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister Surendra Goyal said the work of Chambal-Sawaimadhopur-Nadauti drinking water project will be completed by next year.

He said the delay in environment clearance for the project further delayed the project and assured the House that it will be completed by March 2018.

The minister was cornered by the opposition members and ruling BJP MLAs over the delay in water supply related projects.

Congress MLAs also created a brief uproar on the issue of alleged corruption by a former PHED minister.
