Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today announced that public sector undertaking, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will earmark Rs 60 crores for the renovation of government schools and government hospital in Karaikal, under its CSR scheme.

ONGC will earmark Rs 60 crores for renovation of government schools and Government General hospital in Karaikal as part of CSR initiative, Narayanasamy said in a release here.

During a meeting with Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Delhi today, the Chief Minister had registered his protest against the Centre's move to take up exploration of hyrdro carbon reserves in Karaikal, it said.

However, the Central Minister clarified that the project did not include the Union Territory.

Narayanasamy also urged the Centre to allocate Rs 120 crores to Puducherry under Swadeshi Dharshan scheme to promote tourism related projects, the release added.
