One held for possessing MD drugs worth over Rs 1 lakh

A 32-year-old man was arrested and 91 grams of mephedrone drug, also known as MD or meow-meow, worth around Rs 1.36 lakh, was seized from him near Mumbra in the district, police said today.

The accused, identified as Mohsin Mohammad Khan, a resident of Lonavala in Maval taluka of Pune district, was arrested late last evening, police said.

"Based on a tip-off, sleuths of the Anti Narcotics Cell kept a vigil around a hotel located near Mumbra in the district and spotted one person moving suspiciously," Senior PI of the Crime Branch (Unit-I) Niteen Thackeray said.

The officials apprehended Khan and a search was carried out, following which 91 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 1.36 lakh was seized from him, he said.

An offence under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Shil-Daighar police station.

Further investigation is on.
