Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Mumbai unit President Parvez Lakdawala said he would try to get 10 non-Muslims jobs in Muslim-owned private companies. The organisation took up the issue of religious discrimination after Zeeshan Khan was denied a job by Hare Krishna Diamond Exports due to his religion. Khan, meanwhile, said he did not want his issue to be politicised.

IUML said the decision to provide 10 qualified candidates with jobs was not to mock anybody, but to make people realise they need to rise above religion, caste, class and gender when hiring jobseekers. It added that India's youth are key to the economy, and that discrimination against them would only slow it down.

IUML, founded in 1948, stressed that minorities, especially Muslims, deserve better treatment as they are at the bottom of the development graph.

"Just like the PM said 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas', we should know that our country will grow if all citizens work together. What happened (with Zeeshan Khan) was against the Constitution, and we have written to all concerned authorities to take action and set an example," said All India Milli Council Secretary MA Khalid.
