Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal United President Nitish Kumar on Monday took a dig at his old allies by calling RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav's Sunday rally a 'suicidal street play' and showered praise on his new allies when he lauded PM Narendra Modi's demonetisation decision.

Nitish, who was addressing media persons following his weekly Lok Samvad at CM Secretariat on Monday, virtually bade goodbye to 'rebel' JD-U leader Sharad Yadav saying he has already chosen a different path. "The publicity he hasn't received in the last 40 years, he got in last few days.. but everyone is free to make their own party," the Bihar CM said.

Speaking about Lalu, he said that people know what everyone is doing. "What he is doing will prove self-destructive for him. Everyone will know about me in the coming days. He should produce the documents of the allegations he is making," he said in reply to the accusations levelled against him by the RJD chief.

In praise for his new allies, Nitish backed Modi's demonetisation move by saying that it will eventually hit and hurt all those who have black money.

The Bihar CM also lauded Modi's 'help' for the flood-hit people of Bihar. "We have made our assessment and the damages are in the excess of Rs 7,000 crore," he said and added that the state government will soon submit the memorandum to the Centre about it.

To silence the critiques, who were raising questions on 'mere' Rs 500 crore flood-relief package by Modi, Nitish added, "After former PM Manmohan Singh's Rs 1,000 crore interim relief during the Kosi floods, when we sought more resources from the Centre, we received none. As a result, we had to take a loan from World Bank for rehabilitation of the affected people."
