Around 500 'depressed' men from across the country will come together at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Saturday calling for a 'Satyagraha for men.' They will demand gender-neutral laws and a separate ministry for men.

"Gender biased laws like 498A (woman subjected to cruelty for dowry) of the IPC are being misused by the women leading to widespread harassment of men across the country," said Wasif Ali, a member of Save Indian Family (SIF), an NGO to help men in distress.

"We are going to organise a massive protest demanding abolition of such laws and set-up of a separate Ministry to look after concerns of men," he added.

Among those who are going to raise their voice on concerns of men, is Sourabh Singh who claims he was falsely implicated under Section 498A by his wife in 2015. "False charges were put forward by my wife against me and my family. I was labelled as a criminal. Everybody in my office knew about it. I was so depressed that I even thought about ending my life," Singh said.

"Then I came in contact with SIF and met people who were suffering like me. Now, I’m also associated with the NGO and working for the betterment of other men in distress," he added.

Similarly, Ritesh Verma, claims he had gone through “mental-trauma” after being falsely implicated under dowry charges.

"I was on the verge of committing suicide after being humiliated by my wife and in-laws. The NGO helped me to overcome the trauma. The case, however, is still on but I’m feeling much more confident about life now," he said.

"This feminist movement turned out to be harassment for men. Either these laws should be abolished or similar provisions should be made for both men and women," he added.

The NGO claims that more than 90,000 men have committed suicide after being falsely implicated by women in rape, molestation and dowry cases in the last two years.
