New Ghansoli-Tardeo AC bus service a hit among commuters

The Ghansoli-Tardeo air-conditioned bus services, started last week has been receiving encouraging response from the commuters from day one as the service generated revenue of Rs45,000. The service was a long pending demand of residents of Ghansoli, Gharonda and Simlex.

The route of the new bus service has been designed to cater maximum passengers of the route, claimed NMMT official. According to a NMMT official, the new service is churning out around Rs80,000 to Rs1 lakh daily from a total 12 services. "This is a good start of the new service," said Shrish Aradwad, transport manager of NMMT. He added that the revenue will increase after the new service gets popular among commuters.

The transport undertaking started air-conditioned bus service for Tardeo in Mumbai from Ghansoli for the convenience of the working people and businessmen who travel to Mumbai everyday. The bus service runs via Vashi to cater maximum passengers from the area.

"There has been a demand for separate air conditioned bus service from Ghansoli and transport committee member Mohan Mhatre followed it with the civic body. Later, Airoli MLA, Sandeep Naik also asked civic body the service for Tardeo," said Ganesh Mhatre, chairman of transport committee of NMMC. He added, "Residents of Ghansoli, Gharonda and Simlex go to Mumbai everyday and they have to travel by train which is quite tiresome and hectic."

Travelling by NMMT's AC bus is cheaper compared to other modes of transport, like hiring a cab. The one side fare is Rs90 to go to Tardeo from Ghansoli in NMMT's new AC bus. "Travelling by cab is costly as they have shell out at least Rs400 to Rs500. Now, they can travel for cheaper," said Mhatre.

The first service of the new AC bus is at 6.30am from Ghansoli and the last service is at 6.25pm. The service also covers  Siddhivinayak Temple  in Dadar. "Every weekend, residents of Navi Mumbai go to the temple. The new service makes commuting easy for them," added Mhatre.
