The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test phase-II (NEET-II) across the country with 4.75,785 appearing for it on Sunday, which is 90% of the total number of candidates who registered for the examination.

Most of the candidates found the physics and chemistry papers challenging, while biology, they felt, was better. The examination was held at 739 centres in 56 cities. To ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examination, CBSE made elaborate arrangements by deputing 2,000 observers along with CBSE officials at all these centres.

NEET was also held peacefully at Srinagar (J&K) and 93% candidates took the exam there. A special team was sent to Srinagar in advance to ensure complete preparation to conduct NEET-II. The invigilators were also deputed at short notice with security arrangement for candidates at two exam centres in that city. As per the directives of the Supreme Court, the combined result of NEET-I and NEET-II will be declared by August 17.

Simran Kapoor, medical aspirant, said, "I found physics lengthy and quite tough and chemistry too had tricky questions. While the biology paper was better. But I felt two of the questions were not from the textbook."

Echoing the sentiments of Kapoor, Manashvi Gogri, another medical aspirant, said, "Since there were only two months for the preparation of NEET-II, physics and chemistry were tough for us. While there were maximum numerical questions in physics, chemistry was having twisted questions. On other hand, biology was better."

"NEET-II was overall easier than NEET-I. So, good for students who appeared for NEET-II. Botany and zoology sections were much on the easier side. Physics and chemistry are on similar level as Neet-I. Two questions in chemistry were out of syllabus. One question in physics had answers key not matching with options given. Expect students to score better in NEET-II as they have also prepared for 2 months and the paper was easier," said Vinay Kumar , MD and CEO- RAO IIT Academy. The successful candidates will be able to apply in private and deemed university medical colleges.
