Muslim youth threatening to blow UP Assembly building nabbed

The Deoria Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a Muslim youth who had threatened to blow up UP Vidhan Sabha bulding with bombs on August 15, 2017.

The arrested student has been identified as Farhan Ahmad, a resident of Deoria district. A BA second year student, Ahmad had called up Additional Director General (ADG) AK Prasad on July 6, 2017 and had threatened to blow up UP Vidhan Sabha building on August 15, 2017.

Since then police was on a look-out for the caller. They traced the mobile shop in Deoria from where Farhan had bought the SIM card by giving fake identity and address proofs. On the basis of the shopkeeper's description of the buyer, Deoria police on Thursday morning nabbed Ahmad.

The arrested student has admitted to making the threat call to the ADG. The police also discovered the mobile phone Ahmad used to make the call from him.

An FIR has been registered against him. The police are conducting further investigation to check whether Ahmad has any links with any terror groups.
