Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the fight against terrorism and radicalisation was not against any religion, but against a mindset that misguides the young.

Every religion promotes human values, the prime minister said in his address at a conference on 'Islamic Heritage: Promoting Understanding & Moderation', where Jordan's King Abdullah II was also present.

India, the prime minister added, had been a "cradle of all major religions in the world".

Indian democracy is a celebration of age old pluralism, Modi said. According to him, all faiths promote human values. "... therefore, our youth should associate themselves with the humanitarian aspects of Islam and should also able to use modern technology", he said. Sharing his views on religion, Abdullah II said faith should hold hu manity together. Faith allows us to prosper and thrive, he said while emphasising that people should reject voices which spread hatred. "Our strongest defence against turmoil is inclusion," he said.

Here are some of his top quotes:

1) India believes in the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – that the entire world is one family

2) Every Indian is proud of the rich diversity of the country

3) Indian democracy is a celebration of our age-old plurality

4) The action against terrorism and radicalisation is not against religion. It is against the mindset that misleads our youth to inflict atrocities against innocents.

5) Islamic culture is flourishing across India. The influence of Sufism spreads the message of love, peace and brotherhood.

6) The Government of India is leaving no stone unturned in empowering the Muslim youth. We want them to have the Quran in one hand and a computer in the other.

7) Glad to have distinguished members of the Muslim community, scholars, spiritual leaders and others during the conference. Members of the Muslim community have excelled in several fields over the years.

8) India has been a cradle of all major religions of the world.

9) Our youth should associate themselves with the humanitarian aspects of Islam and should also able to use modern technology.
