Residents and politicians have always found ways to troll municipal corporations. In 2006, Thane leader Pratap Sarnaik, who was still part of the NCP, made poked fun at the road condition in Thane by sitting in front of a pothole and fishing. Twitter wasn't as popular at the time, but Sarnaik managed to get his message across.

Fast-forward to 2017 and municipal corporations haven't changed. Roads are still pothole-ridden, there is rubble everywhere, and people still make fun of them. Now, however, trolling takes a whole new level.

Bandra resident Genesia Alves did just that. Frustrated by rubble left behind by the BMC's road works, Alves recreated the photograph of a bombing in the UK during World War II at the site of a dug-up road near her house in Bandra's Pali Hill area.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, which first reported the story, Alves said that it was a humourous way to deal with a terrible situation.

Alves's picture has her sitting on rubble, sipping tea, and uncannily resembles the picture of a woman during the Blitz (Hitler's sustained aerial raids of Britain during World War II, which lasted eight months). It even has props resembling the original photograph.

While talking of the picture, Alves told Mirror, ""My eldest daughter took this picture of me. I have managed to use similar props, including the folded piece of paper in the pocket. The dress is my daughter's shirt-dress, and the shoes belong to my other daughter. I am a closet turban-wearer, and the mug isn't authentic - it's my favourite coffee mug from Good Earth."

The recreated photograph, which she posted on Twitter captioned, "Hey #Bandra I made a tribute to the BMC digging. #TeaDuringTheBlitz", has been retweeted more than 200 times.
