Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav twice turned away the Lucknow police officers who went to his residence for serving court notice on giving voice sample in a case related to threatening a senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.

The Lucknow Police, which is investigating the 'call threat' case, had obtained an order from the court last week for taking voice sample from the accused Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The investigating officer Avinash Mishra had gone to Mulayam's residence at Vikramaditya Marg first on Monday night to serve the notice but he was told by the security personnel that netaji (Mulayam) was unavailable at the residence.

On Tuesday, too, he returned empty-handed. "We will now send the notice via speed post," said Mishra.

The IPS Amitabh Thakur, who was running an open feud with former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, had received a threatening call from Mulayam in July 2015.

The Hazratganj police turned down his request to lodge a case and filed a closure report in the matter last year.
