MSRDC invites RFQ for Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway project costing Rs 44,300 crore

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) on Wednesday issued the Request for Qualification (RFQ) to firms desirous of participating in the construction of the access-controlled Mumbai-Nagpur Communication Expressway, christened the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg. The RFQ is a process in the infrastructure sector where firms are called to prove that they are technically and financially qualified to carry out a particular project.

The MSRDC has divided the project into 16 packages totalling 701.052 kilometres, all of them having a cumulative cost of Rs 44,300 crore. These costs are initial estimates at current prices and variations are possible once the work begins.

The RFQ document can be downloaded by firms till May 15 and a pre-proposal conference will be held at MSRDC's Bandra office on April 17, the corporation said in a statement.

The next step to this process is called the Request for Proposals (RFP) when firms, which are shortlisted in the RFQ process, are asked to submit financial and technical bids, said officials.
