Congress MLA B A Mohiyuddin Bava has landed in trouble over distribution of notebooks to 48,000 students in his constituency with his photographs printed in them.

BJP and CPI-M's youth wing Demoratic Youth Federation of India have taken strong exception to Bava's action, alleging that he had misused his authority as a legislator for his political campaign.

Bava represents Mangaluru North.

A set of five notebooks each, the front cover of which said it was a gift from Bava, were distributed to the students.

The inside pages of the book contained photographs of Bava's visit to various schools.

BJP Mangaluru North assembly segment block president Y Bharath Shetty, in a letter to the assembly speaker, alleged that Bava had used schoolchildren as tools for campaigning in the coming assembly elections.

DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla demanded a detailed investigation into the matter and alleged that the MLA had 'misused' staff of the Education department for the distribution of books.
