A 12-year-old girl who had gone missing earlier this week from her Shakti Khand home here was found from Palampur city of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, police said today.

Archi had gone missing on February 13.

City Superintendent of Police Salman Taj Patil said a police team comprising women constables was sent to Himachal Pradesh to bring her back.

The reason behind her leaving the home will be known only after she narrates the whole episode, the officer added.

Sudha Yadav, the mother of missing girl, had filed a complaint stating that she had gone to bus stand to pick up her other daughter when Archi went missing.

An FIR under section 363 IPC (kidnapping) was registered at Indirapuram Police Station on February 13.

Police scanned the CCTV footage of the camera installed in the area in which the girl was seen running and a couple of bikers were also seen in the locality.

Some infuriated people had also gathered at the police station to protest against the "police lethargy and incompetence".

A candle march in the area was later taken out.

The protesters burnt three shanties in a nearby slum cluster.

An FIR under section 436 IPC (mischief by fire) has been registered against unknown persons in this connection, Patil said, adding that police have identified some of the accused.
