Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress today asked Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to withdraw his statement on the location of the proposed High Court bench in Sambalpur.

The issue on the location of the bench of the Orissa High Court was raised by Mishra during zero hour. While Mishra claimed that Bolangir was the most suitable place for locating the High Court bench as per the recommendation of the Jasant Singh committee recommendation, BJD MLA Raseswari Panigrahi said Sambalpur is the right place to set up High Court bench. She said Sambalpur is the epi-centre of the western Odisha.

The MLAs cutting across party lines demanded High Court bench to be located in their districts. Though Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra demanded location of the High Court bench be set up in Bolangir, Congress chief whip Taraprasad Bahinipati said Jeypore is the proper place as it is a schedule area.

Senior BJD member and former minister S N Patro demanded that the High Court bench should be located at Berhampur as it is the epi-centre of southern Odisha.
