A senior official of Mining Department was today arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 at his Ratlam office, Lokayukta Police said.

The accused, P K Shilpi, Deputy Director of Mining Department, demanded and accepted Rs 15,000 bribe from the complainant for releasing the latter's dues of mining leases.

The complainant had sought the advance amounts for the mining leases-- Rs 38,000 for 2009-10 and Rs 38,500 for 2013-14, Ujjain Lokayukta's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) M S Shaktavat said.

Based on the tip-off provided by the complainant, a trap was laid and Shilpi was caught red-handed in his office in Ratlam, the DSP said.

Further investigation into the case is on, he added.
