Meeting to review security arrangements for Punjab polls held

A meeting to review the security arrangements for Punjab Assembly elections was held here today.

Chief Electoral Officer V K Singh, Central Reserved Police Force Director General Durga Prasad Kode, Punjab DGP Suresh Arora, Additional Director General of Police BSF K N Chobey, Additional Director General of Police and Police Nodal Officer for the election V K Bhavra attended the meeting, said an official release here.

Several other senior officers from different Central Armed Police Forces also attended the meeting.

The deployment of Central Armed Police Forces in Punjab for election was discussed in detail.

It was decided to make fool-proof security arrangements for the coming election, the release said.

The second agenda item to be discussed was to provide comfortable stay arrangements for all forces which has come from other state for election duty.

In case of medical emergency it was decided that as per policy of Election Commission of India, best medical facility will be provided to all police officials on duty on cashless basis, the release said.

All expenditure will be borne by the election machinery.

In case of necessity air ambulance will be arranged to shift the sick or injured person to best hospitals, the release added.
