Man thrashed for objecting to eve-teasing of daughter

A man was allegedly assaulted by a trio for objecting to eve-teasing his mentally-retarded daughter in Rabupura area, police said on Tuesday.

"An FIR has been lodged against Babloo, Irshad and Alam for assaulting a man who objected to eve-teasing of his daughter in Faleda village of Rabupura area," they said. The accused are absconding, police said, adding that the injured man has been admitted in a hospital.

Mahila Shakti Sammajik Sammittee had recently given a memorandum to district magistrate expressing concern over rising crime against women in the city. They had claimed that even in residential sectors, women were feeling insecure as roadside romeos roam around and pass obscene comments. A senior police officer said patrolling has been intensified in vulnerable areas as pointed out by the sammittee.
