Man gets life term for murdering jeweller in Tirupur

A court in nearby Tirupur today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a jeweller, in 2015.

The Second Additional District Court Judge A Mohamed Jiyabutheen sentenced Prabhu to life term for the murder of one Selvam and seven year imprisonment for theft.

The sentences will run concurrently, he said and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 for committing the offences.

The prosecution case was that Prabhu had attacked the jeweller Selvam and looted gold ornaments worth Rs 35 lakh.

The convict had in the process killed Selvam on July 4, 2015.
